A smart system connecting eight bakery branches through an admin dashboard and a mobile web app for branch managers that eliminates paperwork, with AI that reads supplier invoices and answers business questions in plain English.
- Eight bakery branches needed to stop running on paper: supplier invoices, daily tasks and end-of-day reports had to be captured where the work happens.
- Supplier invoices arrive on paper in different layouts, including wholesale grids, and every line feeds food costs and ingredient prices.
- Branch managers spend the day in the bakery, not at a desk, so their tools had to work on a phone.
- Daily baking had to be tracked per branch alongside the sales already recorded in the SkyTab/Shift4 point of sale.
- Management needed answers about sales and invoices across branches, asked in plain English rather than built as reports.
Two front ends on Firebase: a desktop dashboard for admins, and a mobile-first web app (PWA) that branch managers install on their phones.
Invoice photos are cropped in the browser by detecting the document’s edges. Google Gemini, optionally helped by Google Document AI, then reads each invoice as a generic or wholesale-grid layout and keeps per-page details for staff to review.
An admin chat assistant answers questions by pulling the actual sales and invoice records, and keeps its chat history.
Bagel counts per branch and day come straight from the SkyTab/Shift4 POS, and every AI request runs on the server with per-user limits.
