Overview

Jahez to Work (جاهز للعمل) is HAND’s skills-to-work platform. Job seekers build verified profiles, companies get their own portals to post offers, and an AI matching engine ranks candidates by meaning, not keywords, with the evidence behind every score. HAND operators verify documents, follow up after placement and track the outcomes that matter through seven built-in indicators. A dedicated Events module handles QR attendance and feedback.

The challenge
  • HAND already trains people in many fields. What was missing was the link between someone looking for work and the company nearby that needs exactly that skill.
  • Employers and job seekers rarely use the same words: a seeker writes “fixed engine faults on minibuses”, an employer asks for “engine diagnostics”. A keyword search finds nothing useful.
  • Registration had to work for anyone: a job seeker, a family member, a HAND field officer or a partner organisation, on a phone or a laptop, in Arabic or English.
  • Profiles carry identity documents and clean-record certificates, which must be verified before anyone is recommended and kept private.
  • A placement is not the finish line for HAND: interviews, promotions and raises have to be followed up and reported without anyone opening a spreadsheet.
Our approach
01

Both sides go through one pipeline: offer requirements and a seeker’s skills, tasks and experience are normalised, embedded with Vertex AI, searched with Firestore vector search and reranked. Every score keeps the profile entries behind it and the requirements it does not meet.

02

Rules stay rules. Consent, the freelancer flag, the nature of the work, governorate, experience and document validity are hard filters, never blended into the score, and an offer stops matching on its expiry date.

03

The employer decides. The company reads the ranked list and the evidence in its own portal and chooses whom to interview, and a seeker’s phone number is released only once they accept the interview request.

04

HAND stays in the loop. Operators verify documents before a profile can be matched and follow each seeker after placement. Weights are set per skill category, so HAND can add occupations from the CMS without retuning the model.

What we built

Job seeker profile

  • Registration by the seeker, a family member, a field officer or a partner organisation
  • Education, skills from the platform taxonomy, experience, freelancer status and governorates
  • Identity document captured on both sides, plus the clean-record certificate
  • Consent to be recommended, which can be withdrawn at any time

Company portal

  • Self-registration with commercial or industrial papers, verified by HAND
  • Job offers by skill, governorate, nature of work, experience, positions and expiry date
  • Ranked candidates with evidence: shortlist, invite to interview or reject
  • Scan a seeker’s QR code to mark them, and private ratings no other company sees

Operator follow-up

  • Document verification before a profile can be matched
  • Scheduled check-ins after placement
  • An employment timeline per seeker: interviews, start dates, promotions, raises and departures
  • Profile updates that add to the record rather than overwrite it

Indicators & administration

  • Seven indicators, each a live query on the platform’s own records
  • Placement funnel, coverage by skill category and ratings
  • Filters by governorate, company, skill category and date range, with Excel and PDF export
  • A CMS for skill categories and governorates, with a notice for every new job offer

Events

  • Events created and published from the CMS
  • A printable QR code for attendance
  • A second QR code for a five-star rating and the questions set for that event
  • Attendance and feedback reported alongside the placement indicators
