WatHab is a dual-platform training solution for the ICRC: a volunteer mobile app paired with a web-based CMS that streamlines course enrolment and professional-development funding. We updated, maintained and upgraded the app and its backend, keeping every existing feature, migrating all data to the new version and adding new capabilities on both sides.
- The ICRC trains volunteers through scheduled courses and funds their professional development through iDevelop.
- Enrolment and funding requests had to follow one clear path from the volunteer’s phone to a staff decision.
- Funding is managed against an annual budget, with approvals and teams organised by region.
- The app and its backend were already in use, so the upgrade had to keep every feature and carry all data across.

Courses are scheduled in the CMS; volunteers enrol from the app and follow their courses on a personal dashboard.
iDevelop turns funding into a workflow: each request carries the volunteer, the course and its cost, and moves from pending to a decision within the annual budget.
Automatic emails at each step (registration, approval and changes to a course’s status) keep volunteers informed.
